The group has always carried out its terror campaigns mostly in the northern states where it has bombed public places such as churches, mosques and government establishments.

The recent crackdown on them by the Joint Military Task Force, many of the sect members on the run are reported to have moved to the southwest states.

On Monday, the Nigeria military said it had arrested 42 suspected Boko Haram members in different parts of Lagos and Ogun States in the past fortnight.

The suspects were said to be planning to unleash terror in parts of the South West, including 81 Division’s area of operations.

Parading the suspects at the headquarters of 81 Division, the General Officer Commanding, General Obi Umahi, said the raid was done in conjunction with other intelligence operatives.

The raids were conducted at Ibafo Trailer Park  and Ileke New Trailer Garage in Ogun State,  Aviation quarters at Mafoluku, Oshodi, Ketu/Mile 2 Motor Park, Orile Trailer Park, Lekki new extension and Bar Beach, which are fast becoming Boko Haram terrorist enclaves.

One of the suspects, who identified himself as Hassan Ibrahim, confessed his involvement in the killing of a soldier in Maiduguri.
