SPORTS: Europa League: Pogba brothers at war

Manchester United’s Europa League adventure will continue with a last-32 tie against St Etienne, a match-up that Paul Pogba will relish as it sees him taking on his brother Florentin. Tottenham will travel to face Belgium club Gent having entered the competition following their third-place finish in the Champions League group stage.
 United will be away for their second leg on Wednesday February 22 in accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee, as local rivals Lyon are at home to AZ Alkmaar on the Thursday.
The level of intrigue in United’s tie with St Etienne is heightened by the prospect of former Juventus midfielder Pogba facing his brother over two legs. pogba-brothers Florentin, a Guinea international defender, is not to be confused with his twin Matthias, who plays for Sparta Rotterdam.
The 26-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer with both Sunderland and Hull expressing interest.
 With the January transfer window opening in three weeks’ time, there is the possibility he may not be at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard for much longer.
The Ligue 1 outfit are eighth in their domestic league but were unbeaten in their six Europa League group games, winning three and drawing three in matches against Anderlecht, Mainz and Qabala.

MMM Nigeria- Members of the famous money-doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox, MMM Nigeria have been thrown into panic and great confusion, Tuesday, following the message from the ponzi scheme freezing all confirmed Mavros, otherwise known as money due for withdrawal for one month. This means, all the accounts of members who are due to be paid after having ‘provided help’ (PH) to another person since the last month have been frozen and hence, have no access to request for payment, known as ‘Get Help’ (GH) until after one month.

 All members woke up with the shock message displayed on the screen as soon as they logged into their accounts. Giving reasons for freezing the Mavros, the scheme said it is experiencing heavy workload and want to deal with the attacks coming from the country’s mass media.

It also said it wants to prevent hitches in the coming new year hence, the freezing of the access to requesting for payments even when such person is due for payment.
The message read thus: “One-Month Freezing of Confirmed Mavros” “Dear members!” “As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload.

Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media.” “The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk.:-)) (Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year.)” “Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month.”
 “The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled. (Which we will definitely do.:-))” “We hope for your understanding, Administration”

MAVRODI'S MESSAGE

Panic quarters and Lamentations: In a whatsapp group, MMM Nexus Solution, members of the ponzi scheme, many who are Guilders, have launched their displeasure over the new development. Many have lamented that they don’t know how to communicate the development to their downliners (Those they persuaded to stake their money in the ponzi scheme). 

They also argued that this decision of the scheme’s management will trigger the downfall of the scheme. 

They said most people will hence, be skeptical in staking their money while a good number of them said such decision is selfish and would have been better if it was conveyed to members before now. One of the members with the name, Rosy, said thus: ” This rule is obnoxious, unscrupulous, provocative, insensitive….they did not advise them well, evil prophesy coming to pass.” 

 

Another, Samroyal said: “it shouldn’t have been now when both the media and govt are predicting that it will soon collapse thereby trying to discourage pple from it.” Another member lamented thus; ” One of my down lines was supposed to pay 50k today and he has just called me to tell me he isn’t paying again till this is sorted out. Exactly my point.

 If millions GH in January, how will the system manage that, bearing in mind that this act of suspension of GH this period will discourage many people from joining; who will pay the January GH?” And yet another member lamented thus: “I am a member of NBA Abuja branch, tomorrow, we have a seminar on lottery, gaming, casino, MMM etc hosted by Nat lottery Comm.

 

 I have been a strong MMM advocate amongst Abuja lawyers, what do i tell them tomorrow?” Another member said: “I have been an advocate of MMM since I joined in September but this act of shifting the goalpost in the middle of the match is a very useless and stupid one by MMM. I have 3 new down lines whose 50 dollars bonus is supposed to mature on thursday, what do I tell them? I tried so hard to convince them to join mmm.

 What they could have done is to make all new PH to stay for one month.” However, this member seemed to be very courageous despite the message. He wrote thus: “I was drinking Hollandia yoghurt when someone called me to say that MMM has been frozen. 

 

Oboy, the Hollandia started tasting like Alomo. But no shaking….. I dey kanpe.” Recall that a similar ponzi scheme, Ultimate Cycler, crashed last two weeks and up until now, the site is yet to be alive. Although a message displayed on the site said it is undergoing maintenance, a routine it said would only last for about 6 to 12 hours, yet, for two weeks now, the site is still unaccessible.

 

When accessed, the site initially displayed an error line of code, before displaying ”Error 500” in bold letters, then it proceeded to display another message: “Be right back. We are currently updating the site to give you a more pleasurable experience and will be back online shortly. Our update estimation is to be complete over the next 6 – 12 hours. Thank you, Peter Wolfing.

This tends to further give grounds to another school of thought who have it that all ponzi schemes do not last more than one year. In defence of MMM:mmm However, the following is a response message to members by the first Nigerian Guider, Chuddy.

NEWS: Police detains mother, baby over plantain theft

A mother and her one-year-old baby (both name withheld), were detained by the Nigerian Police for stealing plantain from Agbowa market in Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos state. It was learned that the mother and her child were detained recently at the Agbowa Police station, Ikorodu, after they were apprehended at the market by traders for stealing their goods.

On interrogation, the woman disclosed that she resolve to stealing after efforts to seek her daily bread proved abortive; an action eyewitness blame on the current recession in the country.

 After several days in detention, heaven smiled on her and the child when the state Commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, paid an unscheduled visit to the station to ascertain their law enforcement procedures. While inspecting the suspects detained at the station cell yesterday, the commissioner was briefed of the woman and her child’s offence. 

 

Worried by the impact of the cell on the child, Owoseni ordered that the woman should be released immediately. Confirming the release, Police Public Relation (PPRO) Dolapo Badmos, added that the commissioner, who wasn’t satisfy with her health and offence, gave the lady N10, 000. Badmos noted that the Owoseni directed the lady to sign an undertaken, promising that she would not engage in such any again.

 Also, sources added that Owoseni further inspected the Itoikin Bridge that had been reported to be access route for kidnappers terrorising the area.

The mother to former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, Lora Okeke, has alleged that her daughter was under a negative influence when she performed the sexual act contained in a video that has now gone viral.
Mrs Okeke quoted the former beauty queen as making the claim during an interview with New Telegraph.
According to Chidinma’s mother, “As a mother, watching the video broke my heart, but I have stopped crying and committed everything to the hands of God who always fight my battle.

“When I spoke with my daughter, I asked her what led her into such an unholy act despite the fact that I brought her up in a Godly way.
Okeke quoted her daughter as saying, “Mummy even if I did it, I didn’t know when it was done honestly, I’m surprised and confused. I don’t know what happened mummy”
On Chidinma’s participation in the pageantry, Okeke stated, “Chidimma came home to say she was going to take part in Miss Anambra Pageant and I discouraged her; I told her to use her beauty for God. She went back to school and returned later to say she has been selected among the final contestants.
I can never support my child going to take part in any beauty pageant because we are a Christian family and don’t have liking for such things. Chidimma went into the pageant without our knowledge but she is a little girl and we cannot abandon her; she remains my little baby and the baby of the house. When she won, it was her sister that called to tell us. She is my last child and came seven years after my sixth child.
“Chidimma was simply a pawn in the hands of both the organizers of Miss Anambra and her former manager, hence things went awry when she decided to free herself from the bondage.
“The entire controversy affected my daughter because when I went to see her, she had emaciated so much and not looking after herself at all, when I asked her why her hair was so unkempt, she said, ‘Mummy leave that hair alone, that’s not my worry.
“My prayer is that they should not kill my daughter.”

Rapper Kanye West has revealed he would have opted for Donald Trump in the US presidential election if he had voted.

GOSSIP: Sharon Jones of retro-soul band the Dap-Kings dies at 60

Sharon Jones, the singer who spearheaded a soul revival movement with her band the Dap-Kings, has died at the age of 60.

Jones died on Friday in a New York hospital after a battle with pancreatic cancer, her representative said.
Despite her powerhouse voice, Jones failed to make a breakthrough for decades until a recording session led to a Dap-Kings album in 2002.
The band later won a Grammy nomination and performed at Glastonbury.
British producer Mark Ronson was among those paying tribute.
He used the Dap-Kings as the backing band for another soul revival star, Amy Winehouse, on her breakthrough album Back to Black, released in 2006.
He said: "Sharon Jones had one of the most magnificent, gut-wrenching voices of anyone in recent time."

'You got to be brave'

Members of the band were at her bedside when she died, her representative, Judy Miller Silverman, said.
The cancer was diagnosed in 2013 but failed to stop Jones performing during periods of remission.
"It's therapy,'' she said in July. "I know I need rest and sleep. But I want to work and that is our job.
"`You got to be brave. I want to use the time that I have. I don't want to spend it all laid up, wishing I had done that gig," she told Associated Press.

Barbara Kopple, who directed the documentary Miss Sharon Jones! released this year, said the singer even lit up hospital wards when she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
She said: "When people are around or there's an audience, that gives her fuel and she forgets her pain."

Jones was born in Augusta, Georgia, in 1956 and sang in gospel choirs and backing bands. However, real success eluded her and she took many jobs, including as a corrections officer at the Rikers Island jail.
But a recording session performance led to the formation of the Dap-Kings and the release of Dap-Dippin' With Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings in 2002, when Jones was 46.
Six more albums followed, including the Grammy-nominated Give the People What They Want.

GOSSIP: Harrysong dumps Five Star Music...starts own music label

There is about to be another artist/label drama/fight in the Nigerian entertainment industry. And this time, it's between Raggae Blues singer Harrysong and his Five Star Music label.

This evening, Harrysong shared the poster on the left on his IG page, he didn't say what it was about but when LIB went digging, we found out it was his own music label. Thing is, Harrysong still has a 2-year contract with Five Star Music and we hear Five Star Music will be coming for him...

We don't have all the details but according to someone in the know, Harrysong was unhappy with his contract and wanted out. Without informing Five Star, he started his own label.

A source close to the music label said he believes that the music label will take it up with Harrysong as they paid a lot of money to break his contract with his former music label, Kevin Luciano's Question Mark Records before they could even sign him and they have spent a lot of money on him and he still has contractual agreements with them until 2018.

Popular Nollywood Comic Actor DEDE ONE DAY Dies

The comic actor who became known for his ‘Laugh With Me’ work passed on after battling with high blood pressure this morning, December 14,  after performing at an event yesterday.

Viral report however claim that he anchored a program for one Charles Esonu yesterday in Aba. He from there went to Ugwunagbo for another event he was paid , but he couldn’t conclude that event as he was rushed to hospital over blood pressure related issue and he died later.

He is fondly called the ‘comedian with an extra joke’.

Don Jazzy And Mavins Set To Port To GLO In Multi-Million Naira Deal

In a move set to rock the corporate and entertainment world, Don Jazzy and the Mavins look set to ‘port’ from MTN to Nigerian-owned telecommunications giant, Globacom.

The audacious move comes just months before the contract of Nigeria’s foremost producer is due for renewal with MTN.

According to a source close to the negotiations, news of Don Jazzy’s availability came up just as Globacom was preparing offers to add Mavin’s rising musicians Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello to their fold of brand ambassadors.

The source added that not only is Glo eager to sign the young ones all at once, they are determined to break the bank by also offering a record-breaking deal to Don Jazzy.

The Mavin Records CEO, who currently has just two months to run on his MTN deal, recently broke the internet with news of his signing with online retail giant, Konga. He is considered an overlord of social media influencers and played an active role in creating awareness for the APC in the just concluded elections.

Although the other Mavin acts – Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, D’Prince – all have individual deals with MTN, any move to GLO by the head honcho would most likely result in a mass exodus which would hit the South African Telco hard.
The younger younger trio were signed to Mavin Records a year ago and have already planted their feet firmly in the Nigerian music industry, with hit solo songs and hit collaborations.
Sierra-Leonean-Nigerian Hadiza Blell (Di’Ja) is the sonorous voice behind the love song, Awww. Her music career started off with relative acclaim in Canada before she moved back to Nigeria in what has turned out to be a most lucrative decision: joining Mavin Records.
Korede Bello, consistently sets the hearts of his female fans racing with songs like African Prince and Cold Outside. He also has an endorsement deal with Woodin under his belt.
Reekado Banks, hailed by many for not just his good voice but his street cred, is best known for his song, Chop Am. The recent graduate of the University of Lagos is a favourite amongst young Nigerians.
All efforts to get a statement from Mavin Records PR proved abortive as they declined to comment.
